Eligibility Requirements: High school junior and senior NSHSS members who are Native American or Alaska Natives. You may trace Native American Ancestry at this link:
Scholarship Award: Three $1,000 scholarships for the freshman year of college
Application Requirements:
  • Documentation of Native American heritage
  • Resume (may be copied and pasted or uploaded)
  • Transcript (may be uploaded, mailed, or emailed)
  • Educator Recommendation (submitted via online form; link provided in application)
  • Principal and counselor's name and email address
  • Color headshot suitable for website posting
  • Personal statement of 500 words responding to one of the following questions:
A. As a Native American, how have you acted as a positive role model in your community and how do you plan to continue to impact tribal communities positively in the future?
B. How have you helped create awareness of your own tribal culture and heritage in your school and/or community?
*Scholarship funding is sent to recipients' college or university during the freshman year. If you receive this scholarship as a high school junior, your scholarship funding will be held until you enroll in college.
